Challenge 23 - can't get it to work as described

The solution on this site isn’t working for me. I connect the top of J1 to the top of the switch, and then the bottom of the switch to the bottom of J2 (switch is ON). But the top gear of J1 never moves, so the switch doesn’t move either. If I include the top of the 1000 resistor along with the tops of the J1 and the switch, then everything works. Help?

I could also really use a detailed explanation of how the physical spin junction component works. I just can’t grok it. :frowning:

Oh nevermind, I figured it out. I wasn’t following the setup diagram correctly. I also noticed that the ‘current’ follows the path of least resistance, like water. So I think I understand the junction component now. Man, there was a huge jump in the learning curve when I got to junctions and capacitors. I was completely lost, and had to keep looking up the solutions to move forward. I think I could have used a but more hand-holding at the beginning.

But still, even though I’m struggling, I’m still having a blast!
